While summer isn’t quite over yet, it’s best to start preparing your hvac system before the cold weather approaches! Here are some helpful tips to get your home ready for fall.
- Furnace maintenance
August/September is the best time to have your furnace cleaned and inspected before temperatures drop. Additionally, catching a small problem early on is best before it turns into a bigger, more expensive issue.
- Prepare AC for winter
For homes with central air conditioning or a window unit, cover them with weatherproof covers to prevent air leaks
- Check for drafts
Check around your window seals and door for drafts. Try replacing caulking around doors and windows, use weatherstrips, foam tape, or new door sweeps.
- Checking air filters
Make sure to check your air filters regularly and change them whenever they’re dirty. Ideally, air filters should be changed every three months or more if you run your HVAC unit year round and have pets.
Follow these tips and we guarantee your home will be ready for the fall weather!
